Get rid of silly string stains – tips

Silly string brings lots of fun to the child’s parties and games – that is for sure! Well, it is also a bit dangerous, of course, not literally for the kid, but mostly for his/her clothes and the furniture around.
Check out our tips on how to get rid of silly string stains:
  • Silly string stains on the skin – if this foam-like substance falls on the skin of your child or anybody else, then you must know it is completely harmless. The stain is usually easy to remove so there's nothing to worry about. All you need is some warm water and soap. If the spot is not fresh, then it may take a while to fade away.
  • Silly string stains on the garments – if it is a small one, then the usual washing by hand or in the washing machine is going to be enough. In some cases, however, you may need to use a special stain remover. Since they are chemical based, in order to pick the most appropriate one, you should seek advice from experts - your domestic cleaners deal with stains like these every day so don't hesitate to ask them for the right detergent.
  • Natural cleansers – if you want to avoid the use of commercial cleaning agents, then you can rely on vinegar. Be careful, because it is not suitable for delicate matters.
  • Silly string stains on the upholstery/textiles – the most important thing to remember is that you must immediately blot the spot after its appearance. This goes not only for your furniture but rugs as well. So, always be prepared with dry soft cloths for unexpected carpet cleaning. Before you apply any kind of disinfecting product on the stain, you must read the manufacturer's instructions. The safest option for you remains using professional cleaning services.
Silly string may cause permanent damages to different type of surfaces if the stain is not removed in a short time. It can even blemish the paint of your car, so you must be very cautious. Certainly, the most obvious decision against the silly string stains is not using silly string. Of course, not the easiest one as your children surely love playing with it! The best thing to do is to ensure a reliable adult supervision of your child’s amusements!
